Coughing and wheezing is gone

Postby james on Thu Sep 04, 2008 7:35 pm

I am nearly 5 months smoke free now and I feel like a completley different person. I used to smoke between a pack and two packs a day. After a 10 years if this I had developed an almighty cough, especially when I first woke up. Also any hint of physical activity would leave me breathless which would resort to me wheezing, so embarrasing

I can't believe the difference in me now. When I first quit I coughed even more than usual which made me worried. I now know this was a good thing as my lungs were getting rid of the build up of crap. I no longer cough at all and my family is so grateful for not waking them up in the morning anymore. I also can do a lot more physical activity without fear of wheezing breathing. I knew I would feel better after quitting but i never thought I would feel this good this quickly. I am never ever smoking again, I know that for a fact.

I totally agree with you there James, it is a pretty amazing feeling. Congratulations on your smoke free run. I myself have stopped smoking for a few months now (except for a wee relapse every now and again, shhhhh) and I too feel like a different person.

I play a lot of sport and quitting has helped me to no end. I am fitter and no longer run out of breathe in 5 minutes. This is the fittest and most confident I have ever felt going to into the cricket season. One of my biggest triggers is being around guys in my cricket team who smoke. I used to love having a smoke while watching the game from the boundary. I am super confident that I will be strong and resist the urges this season though. I just have to keep thinking about how great I feel.

I can't believe the difference quitting has made to my life. I am glad others are seeing the same benefits that I am.

I have become somewhat of a preacher to my smoking friends, I don't think they like that too much  . Oh well they are going to have to put up with me cause I am going to keep telling them to quit until they do.

Good luck with staying smoke free over the cricket season there Scotty
